Journey #18: Lesson 10

In this lesson, we talked about Gender-based Violence or GBV, it is a term which is used for any harmful act that is perpetrated against a person's will that is based of ones gender. It can be through physical, mental harm or suffering and etc. this acts can occur in public or private places.

I've learned the differences between both sex and gender. Sex  is the physical or biological identification of women and men that cannot be change unless there will be a surgical intervention while gender is the social difference of male and female that can be change over time.

I've realized that we must know how to safely and ethically respond to a GBV and child protection incident disclosure.

Journey #17: Activity: Reflective Essay (January 6 2021)

On January 06,2020, Mr. Mariano posted on google classroom our new activity.
We were instructed to research any article about societal issues with regards to Gender and Politics or any issues which has related to Gender Bias in Politics.
So, based on the article we'll create a reflective essay with our opinion and response to the issue.

Journey #16: Lesson 9

In this lesson, we tackled about Gender and Church. I've learned a lot. Also this topic is really interesting.

However, there's a lot of catholic church out there that doesn't see gender difference as a hindrance in ministry, such as; Anglican Church, Aglipayan Church and more. In both Anglican and Aglipayan church, they have a women priest. Moreover, there is also a bishop which is woman in Aglipayan Church.

Furthermore, there's a lot of gay priest in both Roman and Aglipayan Church.

Thus, in conclusion, there's still a lot of religious institution out there that doesn't see gender difference as a hindrance in ministry and serving in churches.

Journey #15: Advertisement

After our lesson, we were instructed to create an advertisement/magazine content or any form of media that promotes gender equality regardless to the gender role.

Journey #14: Lesson 8

In this lesson, which is all about Gender and Media. I've learned that media has a big contribution in gender discrimination, even though they didn't do it in purpose. Since, there are 81% of the Filipinos who are watching televisions and stuff. Even, those little kids who knows nothing will be affected in a way that they will get influences in what they saw.

We all know that kids nature is to imitate what the elders do or what they saw, why? because they didn't know what's right and wrong since they are still a kid. Also, even the teens are being influences by the media because they think they need to follow the so-called trend.

Thus, in conclusion, I've realized that not everything we saw in media is good or right. Not because they do something, it doesn't mean that we should follow or imitate it.

Journey #13: Lesson 7

Since a lot of developed ourselves at school mostly students. Being influenced by the peers, other students, classmates and etc. Even when it comes to subjects/majors there's a lot of expectation in one's gender. They expected men to be good in math and science, major in engineering and business course, while women are expected to take education, arts/ literature or other courses which are focused on domestic skills.

According to our lesson, there's a lot of gender discrimination that might happen at school such as bullying, gender wars, peers pressure, harassments and etc.

Thus, in conclusion, we need to be more critical, precise and unique on our on way. We have to find other ways to learn. We don't need to achieve others expectation.

Journey #12: Activity 2.1 (November 18 2020)

On November 18, 2020, Mr. Mariano posted on Google Classroom for our new activity. While reading and understanding the whole article I've realized all the possible effects and impacts of gender discrimination at work.

Journey #11: Lesson 6

In this lesson, I've learned that when it comes to work there's a lot of differences such as white collar and clerical occupations are mostly occupied by women while plants, machine operator and special occupation groups were dominated by men.

Furthermore, there's also a lot of expectations when it comes to gender in workforce. For example, they always expected men to be the provider, the protector, the leader and teacher while women are always expected to be the man's helpmate, assigns duties among family members, humble manager of the family income and child bearing/ greater part of  child rearing task.

Thus, in conclusion, differences can lead into gender inequality and gender discrimination which is not healthy in a workplace.
